The 90s Web was full of a bunch of freaks and weirdos. However, I did manage to discover a view of 80s hackers when I was young. Fueled by the left-over, "Liberate The Web" movement against MA-Bell, posters of Che Guevera lined the walls of the web.
I was a kid playing the games my father brought home to me after his paycheck cleared. One game in particular stuck out to me, "The Great Game" also known as Spycraft. We played that game among others non-stop. However during one gameplay session I recalled reading how the Secret Service has/had a law staking claim to the entire Web. But hey, it's just a game...Imagine that, the early Cypherpunks weren't fighting against a Corporate Giant, they were or could have been fighting against the most powerful entity and organization in the world.
Enter Burn Cycle, and the era of Cyberpunk was born into my youth at a young age. The underground was how I hide my time.
And yet, though all of this, there I was growing up in the shadow of it all, just playing video games.
